Undergraduate Chapter Brings Home National Awards
Founders’ Award of Chapter Excellence
Today’s Gamma Chapter is made up of men of class and character; they are well-dressed, respectful leaders and scholars. Gamma brothers hold leadership positions across campus in student government and athletics; they excel in the classroom and are involved in several major philanthropy events each year to raise funds for charity. October 6th-10th was the Chapter’s Philanthropy Week in which they hosted the Gamma Games to benefit 4theKids, an organization supporting Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge.
Earlier this fall, Gamma also held an extremely successful rush, pledging 49 men. It was one of the largest pledge classes on campus and was comprised of top, sought-after rushees.
Over the summer, several undergraduate brothers attended the Kappa Sigma Leadership Conference in New Orleans and brought home one of the Fraternity’s top awards: Founders’ Award of Chapter Excellence. Only 8 of the Fraternity’s 314 chapters nationwide received this award.
The Chapter also brought home the Scholarship Cup and the award for 100% Ritual Proficiency. Robbie Mahtook won the Fraternity’s award for Outstanding Grand Master and was also recognized last spring as LSU’s Fraternity President of the Year. At the same time, Brother John Woodard was chosen as LSU’s Greek Man of the Year.
Coming up, the brothers are looking forward to Parents Weekend (October 18th and 19th) and their tailgate, to be held at the house, prior to the Kentucky game that Saturday.
