We asked The Urban Alternative family to share some of the activities and traditions they do with their families during Christmas to focus their hearts and minds on Jesus in the midst of a busy season—and you delivered.

We come from all around the world, from different backgrounds and experiences, but one thing unites us all: our love for Jesus. Enjoy this virtual album, full of Christ-centered holiday traditions from the TUA family, and be encouraged. You may just find a new tradition of your own to try out this year.

HERE’S HOW OUR TUA FAMILY IS
KEEPING CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS:

Karen T.
My 2 kids and I always went to church not just on Christmas, but also on Thanksgiving. It gave them a solid foundation to build upon. They are 31 and 41 now. They both have their own relationship with God

Growing up, for Christmas, my family and I would go together to a Christmas eve service which focused on why Christ came into the world and how that would culminate in His life, ministry, and death on the cross. It cast light on the hope that we are offered amidst the sin and darkness in our lives and relationships, our hearts, and our minds.

My Christmas tradition is cleaning and decorating with garland and bows, Christmas Trees, and the lights, those lights do something to my soul. Im Guyanese, so pepper pot is one of the dishes being served, black cake etc. Keeping Christ in the center is the key to holidays and family time is also important. home for the holidays.

Our tradition has been to have each of our children to pick out gift items for World Vision. They each choose $100.00 worth of gifts to send to other children through World Vision. It is fun to see what they choose.

Our 4 children have enjoyed 2 resources from Family Life ... even into their adulthood:1. "What God Wants for Christmas" is a kid-friendly, interactive nativity that tells the story of Christ's birth in a simple and fun way for kids of all ages.2. "Adorenaments" a boardbook with 12 ornaments highlighting names of Jesus and 24-page paperback.
